Software Engineer (AI Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, CA

Salary: $150,000–$210,000/year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs supporting production workflows and customer-facing features.
• Collaborate with robotics, ML, and product teams to translate requirements into well-architected software systems.
• Integrate multi-agent systems, cloud infrastructure, internal tooling, and robot-facing interfaces.
• Build orchestration and state-management services for long-running operational processes.
• Improve reliability and scalability through testing, observability, incident response, and performance tuning.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical planning, mentoring, and on-call production support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of Rust, Python, or C++.
• Strong fundamentals in backend services, distributed systems, data modeling, and API design.
• Experience designing scalable systems and leading complex technical projects.
• Strong self-learning and improvement mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and production systems.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, tooling, or workflow systems.
• Exposure to automation environments such as warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics.
