Senior Engineer 1, Advanced Energy Storage and Generation Systems

Location: Hybrid role based primarily in Pomona, California, with possible extended work in Westminster; employees are required to work and reside in California. Up to 15% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year

What you will do

• Oversee engineers conducting equipment diagnostics, monitoring, inspections, and grid technology reviews.
• Lead technical reports, presentations, recommendations, and cross-functional knowledge transfer.
• Lead the development, integration, and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies.
• Support equipment installation and startup, then lead handover to ramp and sustaining phases.
• Lead investigations of threats to distribution infrastructure and support engineering studies, testing, training, and professional development.
• Protect company assets and properly manage sensitive customer, proprietary, medical, and cybersecurity information.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
• Seven or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver’s license.
• Successful candidates must pass a NERC/CIP-related Personnel Risk Assessment or background investigation and complete specified training before obtaining unescorted access to the assigned work location.

Nice to have

• Technical leadership in advanced technology benchmarking, demonstrations, pilots, and field validation programs, including complex cross-functional project management.
• Expertise in the design, interconnection, and construction of commercial, industrial, or utility-scale energy storage and clean generation systems up to 5 MW.
• Experience with safety assessments and engineering processes for energy storage and generation at California sites.
• Expertise in controls, communications, and integration with site controls and utility systems.
• Experience with energy storage performance, lifecycle, degradation, diagnostics, and prognostics analysis.
• Proficiency in energy storage and generation modeling, simulation, and performance assessment, plus participation in IEEE, UL, IEC, EPRI, or similar standards groups.
