PT JIB and Handheld Camera Operator

Location: CA-Los Angeles; 5800 Sunset Blvd (Tribune-KTLA); onsite

Salary: $50.10+/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level; JIB upgrade available for hours worked on the JIB.

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and maintain JIB and handheld cameras for live, taped, automated news, and other productions.
• Work with technical, news, production, and engineering staff to meet production needs and ensure smooth operations.
• Follow director instructions to capture shots that enhance news and other productions.
• Operate robotic cameras during breaks and meals.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, adapt to last-minute changes and breaking news, and make quick decisions under pressure.
• Contribute to SOP, workflow, and show report documentation.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Camera Operator, preferably including JIB and handheld camera experience.
• Organized and methodical approach, creative problem-solving, and ability to learn new workflows and key commands quickly.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as news coverage demands.
• Ability to lift 25+ lbs. depending on set or strike studio gear.
• Ability to perform all duties under high-stress situations and conditions.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• This is a union position requiring IATSE membership or willingness to join.
