Senior Automation Engineer (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Coordinate technical activities for PLC, DCS, and MES contractor operations supporting Athlone initiatives and projects.
• Own the site PLC/DCS/MES systems, provide operational support, and define sustainable support models.
• Develop performance indicators and apply deviation, change-control, and validation procedures.
• Establish quality standards across the automation delivery lifecycle from concept through operation.
• Provide technical input to OPEX and CAPEX planning, aligning resources with project schedules and budgets.
• Lead technical forums, influence stakeholders, resolve technical challenges, and advance innovative shop-floor automation solutions.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience as a PLC/DCS/MES Engineer delivering DCS and/or MES requirements.
• At least 10 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in a manufacturing operational support role.
• Experience with PI Historian, Thin Manager, and WIN911 systems.
• Ability to take ownership and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Strong influencing, knowledge-sharing, process-improvement, project-delivery, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Fluency in German or French.
• Experience in regulated environments with knowledge of cGMP, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
