Senior Software Engineer (AI/TypeScript)

Location: Remote in Canada; applicants must be able to live and work full-time in Canada. Some roles may require proximity to the Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver offices.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions for complex business needs.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions focused on configurability and long-term maintainability.
• Build and operate production AI capabilities, including LLM integrations, vector search, and AI agents.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver user-focused features.
• Optimize performance, security, reliability, and code quality through reviews and technical improvements.
• Mentor engineers on modern practices, advanced TypeScript typing, AI prompting, and complex refactoring.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience building scalable, enterprise-grade applications.
• Experience working in fast-paced software startup or scale-up environments where rapid shipping and iteration are essential.
• Proven experience shipping and operating real-world AI features in a live product, such as RAG, LLM integrations, vector search, or AI agents; AI coding tools alone are not sufficient.
• Strong full-stack expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, specifically with the MEAN stack: MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.js.
• Fluency with AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor or Copilot, automated testing with Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure including AWS, GCP, Azure, and Docker.

Nice to have

• Relational and NoSQL database experience, plus vector search or search indexing, such as MongoDB Atlas Vector Search.
• Security-first mindset when handling sensitive corporate data.
• Ability to explain technical and AI trade-offs to non-technical partners.
