Principal Technical Artist

Location: United Kingdom, with hybrid or remote work permitted; preference for 1 day per week onsite in Guildford

Media Molecule is a Guildford-based game developer within the PlayStation Studios group, known for LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway, and Dreams, and developing its next ambitious project.

What you will do

• Partner with art and technology teams to identify and resolve fidelity and performance issues.
• Refine, document, and champion best practices for artistic content creation.
• Support and educate artists in the efficient use of tools and workflows.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define benchmarks and settings for target configurations and platforms.
• Provide subject-matter expertise to elevate quality, technical excellence, and best practices across the Art Department.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a technical art role at a similar level.
• Expertise in modern art pipelines, particularly materials, lighting, grading, and/or environmental art.
• Extensive knowledge of 3D digital content creation tools such as Blender or Substance.
• Competence with performance analysis tools such as heatmaps and/or frame-time graphs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to problem solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++ and/or Python for building tools for creative disciplines.
