Social Media Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Own social strategy and execution across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Substack, and emerging platforms.
• Create platform-native short-form videos, posts, and written content in Gist’s distinct voice.
• Coordinate with agencies, content creators, influencers, and Gist creators to produce and feature content.
• Grow audience and engagement through rapid experimentation with formats, hooks, and cultural trends.
• Partner with performance marketing and track audience growth, engagement, and content performance.
• Define Gist’s public identity, build a durable owned audience, and establish scalable content playbooks that inform product and brand decisions.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of experience in social media, content, or community growth.
• Proven experience growing an account or channel from the ground up to a significant, engaged audience, with demonstrable results and an explanation of the approach used.
• Fluency with AI tools and a clear point of view on using them to create better content faster.
• Strong writing, visual, and editing instincts, plus a portfolio of self-created content.
• Ability to create across formats and platforms, including Instagram and TikTok video and Threads and Substack writing.
• Self-directed, fast-moving, and comfortable in an ambiguous, early-stage environment.
• Experience working with or inside a larger organization while owning channels with startup-level autonomy.

Nice to have

• Experience as a UGC creator or content creator.
• Experience as a brand marketer at other startups.
• Experience writing, growing, or running a Substack.
• Familiarity with lifestyle feed content dynamics, including daily engagement, retention, and shareability.
