Field Applications Engineer (Industrial Automation)

What you will do

• Lead on-premises deployments and installations of industrial automation software at customer sites.
• Configure and troubleshoot OT network connectivity, infrastructure, industrial communication, and integrations with existing systems.
• Apply the Purdue security model and OT network security practices, including secure access, reliability, backup, and recovery recommendations.
• Act as the primary technical contact for deployed customers, resolving software, hardware, controls, networking, and backup-related issues.
• Conduct customer training, technical workshops, product demonstrations, technical discovery, pilot deployments, and on-site enablement.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Support, and Sales teams while maintaining deployment procedures and troubleshooting documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Field Applications Engineering, Controls Engineering, Technical Support, or a similar customer-facing role.
• Hands-on experience deploying and installing software on premises at industrial customer sites.
• Strong OT networking and network deployment experience, including connectivity, segmentation, secure access, and understanding of the Purdue model.
• Practical experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems, including troubleshooting Rockwell Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across controls, software, hardware, and networks, with familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with Python, SQL, or another programming or scripting language.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and ability to work across Controls, IT, Cybersecurity, and Engineering teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
