Head of Cyber Security (Fintech)

What you will do

• Build and lead the Cyber Security team, including recruiting specialists, defining the team structure, setting priorities, and developing technical capabilities.
• Own day-to-day first-line security operations and establish the technical foundations, processes, and operating model for protecting systems, applications, infrastructure, and data.
• Define and implement technical security standards across infrastructure, applications, cloud environments, and engineering processes.
• Evaluate, select, configure, integrate, and maintain security tooling, including vulnerability management and remediation processes.
• Drive application, cloud, identity and access, endpoint, network, and secure configuration improvements with Engineering, DevOps, Cloud, IT, and Product teams.
• Lead technical incident response, security risk mitigation, automation, regulatory implementation, and continuous improvement of security capabilities.

Requirements

• Several years of cyber security experience, including leading a technical security function or managing a security team.
• Strong First Line of Defense experience with direct accountability for building, implementing, and operating security capabilities.
• Experience in fintech, digital banking, payment services, or environments handling sensitive financial data.
• Experience establishing security processes, selecting and deploying technologies, and developing technical capabilities from the ground up.
• Experience building teams, recruiting security specialists, and developing technical capabilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, operating systems, cloud environments, application security, and modern technology architectures.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, IAM/PAM, CSPM, WAF, and security automation platforms.
• Experience managing vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, investigating threats, coordinating remediation, and defining technical security standards.
• Experience working with Engineering, DevOps, Cloud, Infrastructure, or Platform teams; ability to assess tools, make technical decisions, manage priorities, effectiveness, and costs.
• Strong problem-solving skills; ability to balance security requirements with business needs and delivery speed.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, OWASP, and fintech requirements such as DORA and PCI DSS where applicable.

• Experience building a security function or scaling a security team in a growing organization.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and modern application delivery environments.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps, Secure SDLC, Security by Design, and automated security testing.
• Experience in environments subject to financial services regulations and demanding security requirements.
