Commercial Analyst (Retail)

Location: Hybrid role based in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia; listed location Richmond, VIC.

What you will do

• Analyze COGS models, supplier terms, margins, inventory health, slow-moving stock, and working capital.
• Develop reports and dashboards that improve visibility and accountability for supplier-related financial outcomes.
• Support category-specific supplier strategies, terms compliance, and realization of negotiated benefits.
• Provide commercial data and analytics for transformation initiatives, including supply-chain automation and AI inventory projects.
• Collaborate with Trading, Supply Chain, Finance, suppliers, and internal agencies to improve commercial outcomes.
• Prepare data-heavy presentations and action plans for executives and supplier meetings.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a previous analytical role, with strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Degree in commerce, accounting, economics, or finance.
• Extensive experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Ability to communicate insights through data storytelling and data visualization.
• Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong problem-solving aptitude, curiosity, and attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Previous commercial retail experience.
• Experience with Tableau.
• Understanding of category management and buying principles, including shelf management, merchandising, ranging, promotional, and pricing strategies.
