AML Investigator (Crypto)

Location: 100% remote worldwide, with LATAM specified; Caracas, Venezuela listed.

What you will do

• Investigate unusual activity referrals assigned by the Head of the Investigation Team.
• Assess exposure to fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions risks.
• File SARs within applicable regulatory timelines or close referrals with documented reasoning when activity is not suspicious.
• Recommend account closures and fund freezes where appropriate.
• Support Customer Help Desk and Legal Team investigative requests and communicate with customers, agents, and internal attorneys.
• Develop investigative techniques and knowledge of blockchain technology, virtual currencies, suspicious activity, and criminal modus operandi.

Requirements

• Experience in an investigative function.
• Demonstrated AML experience, including CDD/EDD, AML/CTF and sanctions investigations, and SAR/STR reporting.
• Experience using blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis, TRM, or Elliptic.
• Basic knowledge of blockchain technology.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and seek guidance when required.
• Flexibility regarding working arrangements and hours, with confidence making delegated decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, decision-making, attention to detail, and organisational understanding.
