EHS Specialist (Weekend Shift) (Energetic Materials Manufacturing): Providing onsite environmental, health, and safety support for weekend manufacturing operations with an accent on hazard identification, incident response, safety documentation, and regulatory compliance. Focus on conducting floor observations and audits, supporting investigations and process safety activities, and coordinating corrective actions in a highly regulated energetic-materials environment.

Location: Onsite in Hollister, California, United States. Initial Monday–Friday training for approximately six to eight weeks, followed by a regular Friday–Sunday weekend schedule.

Salary: $48,800–$90,600 per year.

Company

PacSci EMC, a hirify.global operating company, develops and manufactures energetic materials, devices, and subsystems for military and commercial applications.

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary onsite EHS contact during assigned weekend shifts, responding to safety questions and incidents and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Conduct manufacturing-floor observations, Gemba walks, safety inspections, compliance reviews, and Kamishibai audits.
  • Maintain incident, injury, audit, spreadsheet, communication, and other safety records.
  • Support incident investigations, occupational exposure reviews, root-cause evaluation, and corrective actions.
  • Apply stop-work procedures and support process hazard analyses, Process Safety Management activities, and manufacturing process-change reviews.
  • Communicate safety requirements, reinforce safe-work procedures, and collaborate with production, engineering, environmental, and site leadership teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Zero to one year of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates with limited direct EHS experience and strong learning aptitude are encouraged to apply.
  • Sound judgment, calm response to safety concerns, and the ability to recognize when to stop work or escalate an issue.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging respectfully and confidently with manufacturing employees.
  • Ability to document observations, maintain records, and use common computer applications, including spreadsheets.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in Hollister and transition to the Friday–Sunday schedule after weekday onboarding.
  • Ability to work safely in an energetic-materials manufacturing environment and follow site safety protocols.
  • Only U.S. citizens are eligible for employment because of U.S. Government contract requirements.

Nice to have

  • Education or technical training in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
  • Exposure to EHS programs, manufacturing, industrial safety, or construction safety.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, hazard identification, incident investigation, audits, or process safety concepts.
  • Ability to learn and interpret applicable OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, DOE, DTSC, ATF, and DoD requirements.

Culture & Benefits

  • Structured onboarding and mentorship from experienced EHS team members.
  • Training includes site procedures, energetic-materials safety, incident response, process safety fundamentals, and OSHA 30 coursework.
  • Individual-contributor position with no supervisory responsibility.
  • Safety-first, quality-focused environment supporting military and commercial missions.
