Jr. AI Native Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design, prototype, build, and ship AI-native applications and digital experiences for real-world use cases.
• Develop solutions using large language models, generative AI APIs, agentic architectures, structured outputs, tool calling, and multi-step workflows.
• Build RAG and knowledge-retrieval solutions with embeddings, semantic search, vector databases, and enterprise data.
• Integrate AI applications with APIs, databases, cloud services, existing platforms, and enterprise systems.
• Prototype ideas, test assumptions, and turn successful experiments into scalable solutions.
• Evaluate and test AI systems for quality, accuracy, reliability, latency, and cost while applying security, privacy, responsible AI, observability, and human oversight practices.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of professional software engineering or application development experience.
• Strong programming experience with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or another modern programming language.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including application architecture, APIs, testing, debugging, version control, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience building with generative AI through client work, production applications, prototypes, internal innovation, hackathons, open-source contributions, or substantial personal projects.
• Practical experience with LLMs and model APIs, including prompting, context management, structured outputs, and model selection.
• Familiarity with RAG, embeddings, semantic search, or vector databases, plus exposure to agents, function/tool calling, or AI workflow orchestration.
• Experience connecting applications to APIs, data sources, databases, and cloud services.
• Ability to distinguish a successful AI demo from a dependable AI product and a demonstrated habit of turning exploration of emerging technology into tangible results.

Nice to have

• Personal experience building an AI application, agent, copilot, developer tool, RAG solution, or multi-agent workflow.
• Experience with Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Azure AI Search, Elasticsearch, pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, or Weaviate.
• Experience building applications on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience using GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor in an engineering workflow.
• Experience creating evaluations or testing approaches for AI outputs, or participating in AI hackathons, innovation initiatives, or open-source communities.
