Associate, Mid-Market Investment Banking

Location: Toronto, ON; work arrangement includes an on-site and remote proportion to be discussed during the interview.

What you will do

• Assist senior bankers in executing all facets of mid-market M&A advisory mandates.
• Research industries, potential buyers, market trends, public valuation metrics, and M&A activity.
• Build detailed financial models for acquisitions and recapitalizations.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis using comparable company, precedent transaction, discounted cash flow, and industry-metric approaches.
• Prepare client proposals, pitch books, confidential information memorandums, and other written materials.
• Support Managing Directors on business development calls and meetings, maintain group databases, and assess client needs.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Commercial Banking, or Investment Banking.
• Experience with financial analysis and modeling in Excel.
• Experience creating business development proposals in PowerPoint.
• Some proficiency in assessing unstructured business problems.
• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline and/or knowledge of business, economics, or finance through education and experience.
• Client-focused approach, motivation to achieve goals, high standards, and genuine care in professional relationships.
• Legal eligibility to work at the specified location and, where applicable, a valid work or study permit.

Nice to have

• Recent completion of or enrolment in the CFA, CPA/CA, or CBV program.
