Lead total ionizing dose (TID) and single event effects (SEE) component characterization and qualification through testing and test-data analysis.
Support off-site radiation testing by developing procedures and optimizing test time.
Maintain radiation-test databases and work with supply chain and design engineers to select and procure components.
Create radiation-reliability design standards, review circuit-board designs and BOMs, and ensure compliance.
Represent radiation-related risks to program managers and engineering leadership.
Perform or support ray-tracing shielding analysis of avionics enclosures and travel domestically for radiation-test campaigns as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
2+ years of experience in radiation effects.
Strong component-selection experience for digital, analog, power, and RF systems.
Experience analyzing radiation-test data at the circuit, board, and vehicle levels.
Experience integrating industrial and/or automotive-grade parts in radiation environments.
Nice to have
2+ years of experience with SEE risk calculations and the ability to write scripts for test-hardware control.
Avionics hardware experience spanning flight computers, radios, and motor controllers; familiarity with Altium.
Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, orbital dynamics, and space systems.
Strong statistical analysis skills and experience with electromagnetic effects, surface charging, system desense, or coexistence characterization.
Familiarity with EEE-INST-002, NASA 8739.11, NASA-HDBK-4002, NASA-STD-4005, or similar standards.
Experience with OMERE, FASTRAD, or similar orbital and radiation simulation tools.
Culture & Benefits
Work with electrical, RF, EMC, mechanical, and test engineers on flight hardware for space missions.
Onsite work in Redondo Beach.
Occasional domestic travel to support radiation-testing campaigns.
Hiring process
Application, resume review, and introductory phone interview.
Technical phone interview(s), followed by an onsite interview.
Offer after successful completion of the interview stages.
