Geophysical Technician (Geothermal)

Location: On-site in Salt Lake City, Utah; field rotations of up to 14 days across remote desert and mountain environments in the Western United States.

What you will do

• Plan, execute, document, and support gravity, magnetic, MT, and seismic field surveys.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and safely transport field instruments, vehicles, and equipment.
• Process and quality-check field data and deliver organized datasets and data products on schedule.
• Collaborate with geologists, data scientists, land team members, and drilling engineers to align survey deliverables with exploration and drilling decisions.
• Improve acquisition and processing methods, deploy new in-house methods, and update standard operating procedures through after-action reviews.
• Maintain safety, productivity, professionalism, and respectful relationships with landowners, partners, colleagues, and the environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, or a related field.
• Solid foundation in geology and geothermal system fundamentals, including the ability to connect gravity, magnetic, MT, or seismic measurements to subsurface conditions.
• Experience independently executing and analyzing field methods such as gravity, magnetics, MT, or seismic through professional or research work outside the classroom is highly desirable.
• Ability to learn software, instruments, and methods quickly and operate equipment correctly and safely.
• Ability to remain safe, productive, resilient, and professional during long field days and multi-week rotations in remote, challenging terrain.
• Ability to communicate data status, issues, and results clearly with people from different technical backgrounds and collaborate with geoscience, data, land, and drilling teams.
• Valid driver's license with no major infractions in the last three years.
• Eligible to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

• OSHA, MSHA, First Aid, or wilderness safety training.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification.
• Experience with Oasis Montaj, Geoscience Analyst, UgCS, Mission Planner, Leapfrog, or open-source equivalents.
• GIS proficiency with strong map and figure creation skills.
• Basic Python coding and data cleaning.
