Principal Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Tucson, Arizona, United States; onsite work in a U.S. office.

What you will do

• Develop payload flight software for Space Systems programs, including spacecraft supporting Tranche 3 of the U.S. Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.
• Deploy novel algorithms in austere environments on size, weight, and power-constrained sensor systems.
• Lead cross-functional teams in defining technical requirements and delivering integrated solutions.
• Own software design and development from requirements generation through implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Define software architecture, design patterns, interfaces, and technical standards for scalable, maintainable, and extensible solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, planning, risk and dependency management, stakeholder communication, and mentorship across engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
• 12+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
• Experience designing complex multithreaded applications.
• Experience designing flight software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• For candidates working in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. Government space technology export regulations is required: applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful U.S. permanent residents, lawfully admitted refugees or asylees, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with high-performance and parallel processing.
• Exposure to architectures including FPGA and CUDA.
• Familiarity with flight software system management.
• Experience implementing algorithms.
• Python and MATLAB exposure.
• Familiarity with numerical computing principles.
