Network Security Engineer

Location: Remote or hybrid in Poland, Portugal, or Spain; requires late-evening and overnight weekday coverage for the US team.

What you will do

• Provide overnight network security coverage for the US team and handle P1 incidents, production issues, and security-related tickets.
• Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and maintain firewall policies, VPNs, network segmentation, and threat-prevention controls.
• Monitor network traffic, investigate suspicious activity, and support incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to improve security across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to operational improvements and broader security projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues, handling critical incidents, and working independently with minimal onboarding.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, routing, firewall policies, VPN technologies, and network security controls.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with a US-based team and willingness to work late evenings and overnight on weekdays.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud network security and AWS or Azure.
• Scripting and automation with Python, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust, microsegmentation, and ZTNA.
• Familiarity with SIEM, security analytics, or network threat detection.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, Git, CI/CD, or GitOps.
• Exposure to AI security, red teaming, regulated industries, or relevant network or cloud security certifications.
