Lead Special Processes (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; full-time onsite at the Torrance facility.

What you will do

• Lead daily special-process activities, assign work, coordinate priorities, and provide technical direction to technicians and operators.
• Develop, document, execute, qualify, and validate processes including bonding, sealing, welding, brazing, coating, surface preparation, heat treatment, drilling, assembly, fabrication, and integration.
• Coordinate with design and manufacturing engineering to resolve process issues, provide producibility feedback, and implement improvements.
• Plan labor, materials, equipment, tooling, facilities, and work-cell readiness for predictable process flow.
• Establish process parameters, acceptance criteria, inspection methods, traceability, and required records with quality and engineering.
• Investigate defects, nonconformances, and deviations; support root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions while driving safety, quality, throughput, and repeatability improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in special processes, production, R&D process development, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating a special-process, manufacturing, or production team.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, CAD models, bills of material, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of process control, qualification, validation, inspection, traceability, and quality-system requirements for special processes.
• Experience with at least one aerospace or high-reliability special process, such as bonding, sealing, welding, brazing, coating, heat treatment, surface preparation, or non-destructive testing.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations in a fast-paced R&D and production environment.
• Ability to access applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing; employment may also depend on government authorization, security clearance, citizenship, or other eligibility requirements when applicable.

Nice to have

• Experience with flight hardware or other safety-critical, high-reliability systems.
• Experience with cleanrooms, controlled environments, ESD controls, FOD prevention, contamination control, or hazardous-material handling.
• Experience creating or improving process specifications, work instructions, travelers, process-control plans, inspection plans, and qualification documentation.
• Experience with process capability studies, statistical process control, measurement systems, digital manufacturing or quality systems, and data-driven improvement.
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to safe, compliant, right-first-time execution.
• Experience coaching others, setting priorities, lean manufacturing, root-cause analysis, corrective action, or continuous-improvement methods.
• Ability to mature special processes from research and development through initial production and work from incomplete information.
