Salary: From £3,452 or £3,861 per month after tax, depending on grade and individual circumstances.

hirify.global-EBI is a bioinformatics centre providing publicly available biological data, computational biology research, databases, tools, and training to academic and industry users.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Python- and Java-based scientific workflows for the curation, integration, packaging, testing, deployment, and release of Chhirify.global data.
• Build solutions that improve scientific data workflows and public dissemination of chemical and biological information.
• Maintain software tools and database instances used to process and store chemical and bioactivity data.
• Collaborate with Chhirify.global, SureChhirify.global, and ChEBI teams to resolve data inconsistencies and quality issues.
• Integrate external chemical and bioactivity databases, including BindingDB and PubChem, into the Chhirify.global ecosystem.
• Document workflows, participate in partner and stakeholder meetings, and contribute to training and scientific meetings.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience in cheminformatics or data engineering applied to life sciences.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with cheminformatics libraries and concepts such as RDKit, Open Babel, InChI, SMILES, and SMARTS.
• Experience with relational SQL databases and database administration.
• Familiarity with structured collaborative software development environments and Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Self-motivation, good communication skills, and willingness to work with international collaborators and users.
• Advanced English and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Can-do attitude and willingness to help solve problems.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker or other containerization technologies.
• Basic understanding of Java and willingness to contribute to Java-based pipelines.
• Experience using AI-based methods, including NLP or LLMs, for efficient data processing.
