Analytics Engineer (PostgreSQL)

Location: Fully remote with Eastern Time overlap.

What you will do

• Own and optimize the Supabase/PostgreSQL reporting database, including schemas, views, indexes, queries, permissions, migrations, backups, and recovery readiness.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot n8n workflows, Fivetran connections, and custom API integrations for ingestion, synchronization, reporting, authentication, pagination, rate limits, retries, backfills, and failure handling.
• Develop reusable SQL models and maintain reliable definitions for revenue, clients, conversion, refunds, renewals, retention, and other business metrics.
• Build and maintain Metabase dashboards, saved questions, filters, drill-throughs, documentation, and dependent reports.
• Analyze acquisition, conversion, revenue, refunds, renewals, retention, and coaching performance by cohorts, products, channels, teams, and time periods.
• Present evidence-based findings, hypotheses, recommendations, and measurement plans to leadership and business teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on ownership of a production PostgreSQL or Supabase database, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.
• Strong SQL skills covering joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregation, query plans, and indexing.
• Practical experience building and troubleshooting production n8n workflows, including the ability to explain a personally implemented workflow and its failure handling.
• Experience with API integrations, webhooks, authentication, pagination, rate limits, and reliable synchronization.
• Experience with Metabase or a comparable BI platform, with the ability to work hands-on in Metabase.
• Ability to investigate business performance, quantify findings, recommend actions, and communicate technical issues and business conclusions clearly to nontechnical stakeholders.
• Practical experience using Claude, OpenAI, or similar AI tools for development and analysis, with the ability to independently validate generated code, calculations, and conclusions.
• Experience with Git, technical documentation, and controlled production changes.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of HIPAA and privacy and security considerations for protected health information across databases, integrations, and reporting.
• Knowledge of CRM and ERM data structures, relationships, and integrations.
• Experience configuring and monitoring Fivetran.
• Experience with payment, subscription, refund, renewal, or customer-retention reporting.
• Python or JavaScript experience for scripting and automation.
• Experience using Metabase to understand and reconcile existing reports.
