Senior Scientist, Molecular Interactions, Discovery Biologics (Biologics)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; onsite laboratory role. Domestic relocation may be applicable.

Salary: $119,100–$187,500 per year, plus potential annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Develop and optimize fit-for-purpose molecular interaction and biophysical characterization assays for antibodies, bi-specifics, Fc-fusion proteins, cell therapies, and other protein therapeutics.
• Generate and analyze characterization data using SPR, including Carterra LSA and Biacore, BLI with Octet, and KinExA.
• Deliver integrated molecular interaction, analytical, functional, and cellular assay analyses to support therapeutic lead selection and progression.
• Present findings at group, project, and external meetings and contribute to program strategy as a characterization representative.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams to expand developability workflows and solve disease biology and drug discovery problems.
• Develop talent, build complementary teams, and lead or contribute to patents and external publications.

Requirements

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, or a related STEM discipline with 0–3 years of relevant industry experience, or an MS degree with more than 5 years of relevant industry experience. Candidates completing a PhD within 3 months may be considered.
• Broad experience in molecular interaction and biophysical characterization techniques, including method development, high-throughput execution, and application of new technologies.
• Deep expertise designing and characterizing biotherapeutic protein-protein interactions using SPR, BLI, KinExA, or related technologies to assess binding kinetics, affinity, specificity, and epitope profiles.
• Hands-on experience using Carterra LSA to analyze large datasets for kinetic and affinity measurements and epitope binning.
• Experience delivering comprehensive characterization analyses to drive selection and progression of therapeutic leads in a discovery pipeline.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• On-cell affinity analysis using KinExA, Mesoscale ELISA assays, or flow cytometry.
• Experience with ELISA, ITC, MST, SEC-MALS, DLS, DSF/DSC, or mass photometry.
• Experience integrating laboratory automation using Tecan, Biomek, Hamilton, or similar systems.
• Hands-on protein conjugation experience; microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, or flow-based research experience.
• Fluency in a modern programming language such as C++, Python, or similar.
