Manager, Engineering (Frontend)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end frontend delivery, including backlog health, sprint cadence, release quality, risk management, and production support.
• Manage and develop engineers through 1:1s, feedback, development plans, coaching, performance management, and support for senior engineer autonomy.
• Reduce technical debt in the legacy C# frontend estate and drive migration toward modern JavaScript-based technologies.
• Promote code reviews, automated testing, observability, version control discipline, CI/CD, Dependabot coverage, WAF compliance, and AI-driven engineering practices.
• Coordinate with Senior Engineering, Product, IT Support, data, Digital Engineering, and infrastructure teams on delivery, migrations, dependencies, and shared tooling.
• Improve release predictability, incident response, mean time to resolution, security posture, retention, and team capability.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing a software engineering team, including structured 1:1s, performance management, and team development.
• Strong JavaScript proficiency sufficient to review technical decisions, coach engineers, and assess frontend architecture trade-offs.
• Working knowledge of C# and the ability to engage meaningfully with a legacy C# codebase.
• Experience delivering technical projects end-to-end from planning and backlog management through release and production support.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical engagement with team management and stakeholder communication.
• Good English communication skills in a bilingual French/English environment; written and verbal English communication with NIQ colleagues is required.
• Commitment to actively developing engineers' capability and autonomy, including senior engineers.

Nice to have

• Frontend engineering experience in a French retail, FMCG, or data-driven product context.
• Experience with legacy-to-modern frontend migrations, particularly C# to JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with Agile delivery practices, backlog tooling, and sprint reviews.
• Exposure to web application security, including dependency management, WAF configuration, and vulnerability tracking.
• Familiarity with NIQ's Workforce Architecture or an equivalent people-management competency framework.
• Experience in a post-acquisition or corporate integration environment.
