Senior PKI Security Engineer (Finance)

Location: McLean, VA; hybrid and remote opportunities within the United States.

Pay rate: $70–75/hour on W2 only; no C2C. Duration: 6+ months.

What you will do

• Manage the issuance and lifecycle of public Certificate Authority certificates, domains, and validation processes.
• Monitor PKI and certificate incident queues, troubleshoot complex and high-severity issues, and address customer questions.
• Create, review, approve, and implement changes across the PKI and certificate environment.
• Design and implement PKI, certificate, and security solutions while identifying technical and operational improvements.
• Support capacity planning, performance monitoring, maintenance, high availability, root cause analysis, and service improvement.
• Lead or contribute to PKI and security projects, disaster recovery exercises, incident calls, and communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• At least 4 years of Information Technology experience, including at least 2 years of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) experience.
• Experience working with public Certificate Authorities, specifically DigiCert and Sectigo.
• Ability to communicate technical issues and challenges to technical and non-technical audiences.
• W2 employment is required; C2C arrangements are not accepted.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
• Knowledge of or hands-on experience with DigiCert CertCentral and ITIL principles.
• Experience leading technical teams or projects.
• AWS certification.
• Experience with Python or other programming or scripting languages.
• 3+ years of PKI experience and enterprise-scale PKI certificate and security operations or implementation experience.
• At least 2 years of UNIX experience.
