Sr. Federal Certification Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote/Teleworker, available in Maryland or Texas, United States. US citizens or green card holders only; 5–10% travel required.

Salary: USD 109,000–251,000 annual base salary in Maryland and Texas; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Support Common Criteria, FIPS, and DoDIN certifications across HPE Networking product lines.
• Represent HPE Networking with accredited laboratories throughout evaluation processes.
• Create and edit certification documentation, including FIPS security policies and Common Criteria security targets.
• Advise software developers and QA teams on certification requirements and processes.
• Coordinate meetings with laboratories and engineering/QA teams, track milestones, and communicate testing gaps for remediation.
• Monitor government standards and support the development, compliance, and maintenance of FIPS-compliant cryptographic modules.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; MS preferred or equivalent experience.
• Software engineering background with C/C++, Python, and/or Golang; ability to read and understand C source code is required.
• At least 2 years of technical experience with cryptographic modules.
• At least 3 years of experience with certification schemes including Common Criteria, FIPS, and DoDIN.
• At least 4 years of experience handling government certifications or security testing.
• US citizenship or a US green card is required.

Nice to have

• Software development experience with cryptographic modules.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, or ISSEP.
• Ability to work largely unsupervised.
• Strong project management skills.
• Knowledge of emerging standards outside the US, including EUCC, EUCRA, and ITSAR.
