Lead Linux Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine; full-time on-site work in the office is required, with shuttle service from the nearest metro station.

What you will do

• Lead a team of Linux engineers and collaborate with Avionics, Systems Engineering, Flight Testing, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain existing and create new Linux applications for unmanned aircraft.
• Design and coordinate interfaces between teams and document architecture and design decisions.
• Integrate hardware, third-party software, and onboard applications into a high-performance Linux platform.
• Write and execute unit, integration, functional, and acceptance tests; analyze flight logs and resolve software and hardware issues.
• Maintain and extend build systems, pipelines, and tooling, including release creation and release notes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of leading experience in Linux software development, preferably in embedded or robotics systems.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++14 or newer with proven experience developing Linux applications.
• Understanding of Linux internals, including system services, device trees, and kernel modules.
• Experience with cross-compilation, Yocto, Buildroot, or similar build systems.
• Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as GDB, strace, and perf, as well as log analysis.
• Familiarity with unit, integration, and system-level testing methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems such as Git, and release management.
• Strong problem-solving, technical documentation, communication, and teamwork skills for cross-disciplinary engineering work.
• English at Intermediate+ level.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DDS, MAVLink, CAN, or Ethernet interface standards.
• Knowledge of Docker, containerization, and virtualization.
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Exposure to real-time Linux or safety-critical software development.
