Trainee / Junior PHP Developer

Location: Offices in Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Uzhhorod, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Rivne, or Lutsk, Ukraine

What you will do

• Develop, analyze, debug, and test program logic and algorithms based on technical specifications.
• Write code according to the defined application architecture and industry best practices.
• Structure, format, document, and name source code elements according to company conventions.
• Track changes and compare source code using the defined version control system.
• Agree task deadlines with a Senior Developer or Technical Leader.

Requirements

• Understanding of programming fundamentals and how software is built.
• Basic knowledge of PHP 8.4 and object-oriented programming; hands-on PHP experience is not mandatory.
• Openness to learning PHP with Laminas or writing backend code in Node.js.
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL, with familiarity with MySQL 8.4 or PostgreSQL 14.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs and familiarity with Git and Composer.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools for software development and the ability to define tasks and acceptance criteria, review and test generated output, and refine it instead of copying without verification.
• Interest in a full-stack role and willingness to work across backend and frontend development.
• Upper-Intermediate English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with TypeScript and Angular 21, PHP or another backend language, Docker, PHPUnit, and test writing.
• Interest in AWS services such as S3 or SQS and basic knowledge of NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.
• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI, Propel ORM, microservices, or third-party APIs such as PayPal or Google Analytics.
