Senior Software Engineer (C++/C)

Location: Billund Project House, Denmark; hybrid work with the option to work from home up to two days per week.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize high-performance core engine components and reusable software platforms.
• Build software enabling play experiences based on motion, sound, and colour detection.
• Own complex technical challenges across the platform stack, including implementation, testing, issue resolution, and reliability improvements.
• Optimize performance and resource utilization in constrained systems by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend architecture and component improvements.
• Collaborate with Engineering Leads and System Architects across Software and Firmware while supporting code reviews, automated testing, documentation, continuous integration, and workflow improvements.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience developing complex systems, core platforms, frameworks, or engines.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems, make engineering trade-offs, and communicate decisions clearly.
• Strong software development skills and fluency in C++/C.
• Experience with Domain Specific Languages (DSL).
• Track record of delivering engineering projects within a team and achieving objectives and milestones.
• Ability to balance user experience and technical constraints to deliver effective solutions.
• Experience using task management software such as Jira.
• Experience using GitHub for code management.

Nice to have

• Experience with connected toys, wearables, IoT, or other hardware-software products, including BLE, NFC/RFID, sensors, or low-power devices.
• Experience with Unity, Unreal, or Godot game engines and with designer-facing tools or data-driven content pipelines.
• Audio programming or interactive sound design experience.
• Experience designing play for children, including playtesting with children and working with child safety and privacy regulations.
• Passion for hirify.global play and curiosity about inventing new forms of play.
