Senior Financial Analytics Engineer (E-commerce)

Location: Hybrid in Hamburg, Germany

Salary: EUR 70,000–85,000 yearly

What you will do

• Support time-sensitive month-end closing through financial data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting validation in compliance with IFRS standards.
• Design, maintain, and optimize data pipelines connecting SAP/ERP data structures with Google BigQuery.
• Write and maintain SQL queries and Python scripts to extract, model, and analyze complex financial data.
• Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across SAP tables, data models, and downstream analytics platforms.
• Build self-service reporting tools and dashboards for Finance stakeholders, and translate financial requirements into scalable technical specifications and data models.
• Lead initiatives expanding in-house financial data solutions across Google Cloud Platform and act as the technical bridge between Finance and core Data teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Informatics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or Financial Data Analyst working with large-scale financial and ERP data structures.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex data modeling, analytical queries, window functions, and data validation.
• Practical experience with ERP and SAP data models, including financial accounting tables, reporting structures, and data specifications.
• Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery and modern data stack tooling.
• Understanding of financial accounting principles, IFRS standards, reconciliation workflows, and month-end closing processes.
• Experience building reports and self-service analytics tools with Looker, Looker Studio, or equivalent BI platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, cross-functional communication, ownership, pragmatic decision-making, and collaborative skills in an agile setting.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python for data automation.
• Familiarity with SAP ERP modules.
• Knowledge of modern data orchestration tools.
• Prior experience in e-commerce or retail.
