Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d) - Tieto Tech Consulting

Location: Austria (Vienna, Linz, Graz) or Germany (Berlin, Regensburg); flexible hybrid work model.

Salary: from €3,954 gross per month on a full-time basis, depending on qualifications, experience, and contract type.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and business-focused data solutions, including governance structures and access control concepts.
• Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines using Databricks or similar modern frameworks.
• Manage and enhance CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments, including containerization and orchestration.
• Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of data workflows.
• Advise customers as a trusted technical partner and collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Apply current data engineering practices and innovative approaches to complex challenges.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing scalable data solutions, platforms, and data integration interfaces.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, including dimensional modeling and normalization/denormalization.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms; Azure is preferred, while AWS or GCP experience is also welcome.
• Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and architectural patterns such as Medallion.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with openness to leveraging AI-assisted tools and approaches.
• Software engineering mindset with experience in Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Consulting mindset, customer-centric approach, ownership, self-motivation, teamwork, and ability to learn new topics quickly.
• Fluency in German at C1 level and English for stakeholder discussions.
• Strong communication skills, willingness to mentor colleagues, and interest in emerging technologies and continuous learning in data and AI.

• Valid certifications in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Microsoft Azure.
