Data Engineer III

Location: Madrid, Spain

Salary: €55,500–€78,000 total cash annually, with potential pay up to €89,000 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and operate batch and real-time data pipelines.
• Build highly available distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, processing, movement, storage, and access.
• Apply software design, data modeling, schema design, validation, testing, monitoring, alerting, debugging, and performance-tuning practices.
• Recommend suitable architectures, technologies, frameworks, and programming languages while designing modular, maintainable, testable, observable, and cost-efficient software.
• Monitor and resolve production issues within established service-level agreements, lead code reviews, and coordinate stakeholders across the organization.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in communities of practice, and improve technical and operational practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3+ years with a master’s degree, or equivalent related professional experience.
• Experience developing software in at least three programming languages and proficiency in at least three data-relevant languages such as Java, Python, Scala, and Spark.
• Experience building and maintaining more than one production data pipeline or data product, including bug fixing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with large data volumes across ingestion, batch and real-time processing, movement, storage, and access.
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud technology and its data offerings.
• Understanding of databases, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, data modeling, testing, monitoring, alerting, and debugging.
• Ability to design moderately complex systems, apply organizational reference patterns, and make independent technical decisions within project scope.
• Understanding of how team goals support business needs, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
