VP, Legal (Labor and Employment)

Location: Fully remote within the United States of America.

Base salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year, with a possible discretionary incentive program and additional benefits dependent on full-time employment status.

What you will do

• Assist the General Counsel and Human Resources department with labor and employment matters, including wage and hour law, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements, policies, FMLA matters, litigation, grievances, and arbitrations.
• Provide in-house legal counsel and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Supervise, manage, and evaluate outside counsel handling employment-related matters, including litigation.
• Educate clients and stakeholders on legal matters, policies, and procedures.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements with customers, including terms relating to services, data, and information technology.
• Develop customer-centric solutions that satisfy legal requirements and internal and external customer needs.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree, or equivalent, from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• Current bar membership or ability to be admitted to the in-house counsel bar.
• At least 6 years of prior in-house counsel experience focused on labor and employment law.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, relationship-building ability, and experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Detail orientation, ability to balance competing priorities, and ability to manage multiple projects under deadline pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding and entrepreneurial environment and deliver in a timely manner.
• Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements, including customer terms relating to services, data, and information technology.
