Principal Engineer (Software Application Architecture)

Location: Hybrid work model with on-site time at an assigned hirify.global site in Hillsboro, Oregon, or the additional US locations in Phoenix, Arizona; Folsom, California; or Santa Clara, California.

Annual salary range: $233,990–$383,460 USD.

What you will do

• Own the technical architecture for an end-to-end telemetry platform covering field and validation data collection, data lakes, analytics, and insights delivery.
• Drive crash analytics and reliability modeling to accelerate root-cause analysis, de-duplicate failures, and reduce product escapes at scale.
• Scale ingestion and analysis across millions of endpoints and thousands of data points while supporting platform onboarding, flighting, and data collection.
• Partner with product architecture, validation, quality, customer-enabling teams, OEMs, Microsoft, and third-party telemetry providers to turn telemetry into business actions.
• Set engineering standards, coding practices, tooling, validation processes, and quality metrics; mentor teams and define predictive models for platform, ingredient, and OEM quality health.
• Formulate technical strategies and lead scalable, secure telemetry solutions across client, cloud, and enterprise domains.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 12+ years of experience; or a Master's degree with 8+ years; or a PhD with 6+ years.
• 7+ years of experience building field telemetry and data collection systems at scale across millions of endpoints and thousands of data points.
• Deep knowledge of hirify.global client platform architecture and OS internals across Windows and Linux, including BSODs, live kernel dumps, machine checks, and event logs.
• Proven software architecture experience focused on scalability, security, and resiliency in high-volume ingestion, storage, and analysis pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with modern data lake and analytics stacks, including Snowflake, Databricks, and cloud services.
• Experience defining coding standards, development tooling, and validation processes.
• Applied analytics or machine learning experience in failure classification, bucketing, de-duplication, anomaly detection, and predictive quality trending.
• Demonstrated success driving technical direction and execution for large-scale software programs, influencing cross-functional teams, and presenting complex strategies to technical and business audiences.
• Experience establishing data-sharing partnerships with OEMs, Microsoft, and third-party telemetry providers; experience presenting at industry conferences and participating in standards committees.
