Surveillance Analyst (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Greenwich, or New York, United States

Annual base salary: $100,000–$150,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills; eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Monitor and review trade and electronic communications surveillance alerts across on-exchange and OTC markets, including equities, fixed income, commodities, FX, futures, options, and digital assets.
• Analyze large datasets for investigations, thematic reviews, and surveillance enhancements.
• Document investigation findings and maintain an audit trail meeting regulatory standards.
• Escalate suspected breaches and support market abuse inquiries from exchanges, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
• Design, develop, and test surveillance scenarios and detection models for evolving trading strategies, new products, and regulatory guidance.
• Prepare and maintain Business Requirement Documents, perform UAT, and recommend alert calibration adjustments based on performance data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, and/or a STEM field.
• At least 1.5 years of experience in market abuse surveillance.
• Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of one or more US or APAC trade compliance regimes, such as DCM Core Principles, Reg NMS, SEC/FINRA market manipulation rules, China Abnormal Trading Rules, or Korea Unfair Trade Practices.
