Senior Data Analyst (Higher Education)

What you will do

• Prepare and submit institutional data for IPEDS, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas A&M University System, state, federal, and accountability reports.
• Coordinate responses to the Common Data Set, U.S. News & World Report, and other external surveys and higher education data requests.
• Develop, maintain, and validate recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, data visualizations, analytical studies, and other products.
• Extract, transform, integrate, and analyze data from multiple institutional systems while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
• Partner with academic and administrative units to clarify business needs and translate institutional data into actionable information.
• Identify data quality issues, improve reporting standards and data definitions, and support data governance, strategic planning, enrollment management, student success, and accreditation efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
• Four years of related experience in data collection and analysis and using data management information systems.
• Experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, higher education analytics, enrollment management, educational data reporting, or related data analysis within a college or university setting.
• Experience with state, federal, or accreditation reporting requirements in higher education.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, and querying and analyzing large datasets.
• Experience developing reports, data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical products using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of data extraction, transformation, and integration processes, higher education data structures, reporting requirements, and institutional research principles.
• Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends and insights, and communicate technical concepts and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities, maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators, and ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical data use.
