Manager, Software Development, EC2 Core Compute

What you will do

• Own EC2 Core Platform bring-up and virtualization features for new instance families from early silicon through general availability.
• Own live update and live migration technologies for the assigned platforms.
• Lead qualification, launch readiness, reliability targets, delivery, operations, and on-call activities for new instance families.
• Create the team vision and technical roadmap while evaluating business and technical requirements, risks, and trade-offs.
• Partner with Product Managers, Principal Engineers, and hardware, firmware, and off-host software teams across locations and time zones.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while managing performance and influencing technical direction beyond the organization.

Requirements

• Previous experience developing software.
• Solid understanding of operating systems.
• Experience managing a software development team and applying agile development methodologies.
• Experience building and executing a software product roadmap by driving projects and programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Linux software.
• Understanding of critical operating system performance areas and kernel influence.
• Experience designing and implementing a software development life cycle.
• Experience mapping business needs to engineering requirements.
