Government Affairs Trainee (Sustainability & CSR)

Location: Mexico City, Mexico; full-time, onsite trainee position in the Mexico team.

What you will do

• Coordinate and prepare meetings with government, diplomatic, community, and other external stakeholders.
• Monitor political, legislative, regulatory, and public-policy developments relevant to the energy sector in Latin America.
• Prepare briefing materials, presentations, background research, and content for strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagements.
• Coordinate administrative and project activities for Corporate Social Responsibility and foundation initiatives, including community engagement.
• Maintain project documentation, timelines, follow-up actions, databases, and impact metrics.
• Track information for sustainability certifications, environmental-compliance reporting, ESG KPIs, and regional reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing, close to completing, or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Law, Sustainability, Public Administration, International Business, or a related field.
• Full-time availability for a 12-month trainee programme.
• Professional proficiency in Spanish and English, written and spoken.
• Basic knowledge or strong interest in public policy, government relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, sustainability, ESG, or the energy sector.
• Strong organisational, research, analytical, project-coordination, written-communication, and presentation skills.
• Proactive mindset, attention to detail, discretion, stakeholder orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a multicultural environment.

Nice to have

• Internship, academic-project, volunteer, NGO, CSR, sustainability, public-policy, or government-relations exposure.
