Salary: £48,337–£59,390 per annum depending on experience

Research takes place within the Chica Research Group, the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, and the Department of Chemistry at the hirify.global, focusing on computational and experimental approaches to protein engineering and enzyme design.

What you will do

• Develop and apply machine-learning and artificial-intelligence approaches to protein engineering and enzyme design.
• Analyse, integrate, and model large biological, chemical, and experimental datasets.
• Design, implement, train, and evaluate predictive machine-learning models.
• Develop computational tools, workflows, software, and methodologies for data-driven scientific discovery.
• Provide specialist expertise, guidance, training, and support in machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence across the research group.
• Collaborate with researchers, postdoctoral researchers, and postgraduate students on computational and experimental projects, publications, presentations, funding applications, and the strategic development of AI research activities.

Requirements

• Expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Ability to work collaboratively with computational and experimental researchers in an interdisciplinary research environment.
• Ability to develop innovative computational approaches to scientific challenges.
• Ability to maintain high standards of software development, documentation, and reproducible research.
• Interest in keeping up to date with artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and scientific computing.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in chemistry, biology, or protein science.
• Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and methods and applying them to frontier research problems.
