On-Call Senior Lead Specialist, Issues Management and Media Relations (AI)

Location: US Remote; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Chicago, Illinois is listed as the remote office. The position is part time.

Pay range: $108,476.00–$184,409.00 annually, based on full-time employment.

What you will do

• Lead reputation management, media relations, and strategic communications activities for utility-sector clients.
• Advise utility executives and corporate communications leaders on reputation threats and operational friction.
• Lead and coordinate media relations across social media, paid media, creative services, and owned media.
• Write executive talking points, persuasive op-eds, and audience-segmented paid content.
• Monitor industry trends, including AI, to advise clients.
• Support hirify.global’s utility reputation management and brand strategy practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
• 12+ years of demonstrated experience managing public relations, media relations, or communications staff.
• 12+ years of experience leading strategic media campaigns, initiatives, programmatic activities, or external affairs activities.
• 12+ years of experience serving as a trusted advisor to clients or senior leadership.
• 12+ years of experience applying innovative media-relations techniques to generate news coverage.
• Knowledge of public relations, public affairs, and integrated communications.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to predict and mitigate problems or conflicts.
• Strong organizational and logistics skills.
• Ability to independently manage tasks and handle multiple priorities.

• Experience supporting high-level government communications and operations.
• Experience in a PR agency, journalism, corporate, or government agency environment.
