Data Scientist Technical Specialist

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States. Onsite; no remote or telework allowed. Must maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Salary: projected annual compensation of $138,889.31–$238,023.95.

What you will do

• Discover and assess new data sets and streams, develop targeting methodologies, and deliver data-driven solutions for high-priority mission needs.
• Design real-time data processing techniques and integrate multiple data streams into unified views of complex data.
• Develop user-friendly data interfaces for targeters, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Apply data science, semantic analysis, machine learning, clustering, and event-processing techniques to large-scale unstructured and semi-structured data.
• Process and index high-volume collections and high-velocity streams across distributed, clustered, cloud-based, and high-performance computing infrastructures.
• Collaborate with government, contractor, commercial, and non-IC partner personnel; troubleshoot processing issues and optimize data delivery and formats.

Requirements

• Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
• Experience level: BS 10–12 years, MS 8–10 years, or PhD 5–7 years.
• Knowledge of the Sponsor’s environment and experience working with sensitive commercial partners and commercial data sets.
• Experience presenting data analysis results to support technical development and decision-making.
• Experience with open-source enterprise software stacks and Windows development stacks, including Java, Linux, Ruby, Python, .NET, C#, or C++.
• Experience with data transport and transformation technologies and APIs, including JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, SOAP, or REST.
• Experience with cloud-based and distributed data processing technologies such as Hadoop, Mahout, Accumulo, Hive, Impala, or Pig; visual analytics platforms; and text processing and search technologies such as Lucene, Sphinx, Nutch, or Solr.
• Knowledge of entity extraction, conceptual search, semantic analysis, latent semantic indexing, latent Dirichlet allocation, machine learning, algorithm development, data clustering, and data science methodologies.
