Metasurface Design Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States.

Salary: $131,000–$176,000 annually.

What you will do

• Support multidisciplinary physicists and engineers in developing commercial and research quantum computing systems.
• Design, simulate, and evaluate metasurface and diffractive optical components.
• Integrate optical components into systems that deliver and collect light in next-generation quantum computers.
• Develop improved design and analysis methodologies using high-performance computing capabilities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree minimum.
• At least 6 years of experience, including advanced-degree experience, designing and simulating metasurface and diffractive photonics components and systems.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to contractual requirements: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, must not be a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in optics, physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with photonic simulation tools such as FDTD, Lumerical, tidy3D, FEM, and RCWA.
• Experience with scientific coding, data analysis, visualization, Python, and Matlab.
• Experience with computational methods for inverse design and optimization.
• Experience with high-performance computing.
• Experience with optical systems, optical principles, and optical testing of photonic devices.
• Experience with or knowledge of nanofabrication of metasurfaces and diffractive optics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a record of published research results.
• Ability to communicate clearly and facilitate the exchange of technical details among team members with diverse technical experience.
• Ability to work in a high-performing team and contribute to broader organizational goals.
