Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid position based in Ashburn, Virginia, USA; onsite attendance is required four days per week during the first year and as mission needs require. U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust position based on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, and continuously improve machine-learning models for AI applications.
• Analyze large datasets, identify patterns and trends, develop hypotheses, and validate findings with statistical methods.
• Develop and maintain reliable data pipelines and collaborate with data-engineering teams to optimize data infrastructure.
• Support AI product development from prototyping through deployment and monitoring, working with product, design, engineering, and quality-assurance teams.
• Implement monitoring and alerting for model performance and product KPIs, and perform ongoing model maintenance.
• Collaborate within a large Agile development team and manage multiple projects independently.

Requirements

• Experience supporting artificial-intelligence, machine-learning, or data-analytics projects.
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying AI/ML models in production environments.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or Java.
• Experience with machine-learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Experience with MLOps pipelines and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, and with data-processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.
• Experience with analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, or Plotly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is required.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust position and favorable suitability based on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with product-development lifecycles and Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud for model deployment and data storage.
• Ability to begin with a limited CBP Background Investigation.
