Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer - FDE (Data and AI Architect, SAP & Databricks)

What you will do

• Build and productionize customer solutions spanning data engineering, AI, application development, data ingestion pipelines, and ML/AI model integrations.
• Lead architecture and design decisions for secure, scalable, production-grade systems aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Guide strategic enterprise data and AI initiatives from technical scoping through design, implementation, deployment, and measurable outcomes.
• Modernize and migrate SAP BW landscapes to Databricks Lakehouse, assessing data flows, InfoProviders, CompositeProviders, and process chains.
• Design SAP integration patterns using ODP/ODQ, CDS views, SLT, Datasphere replication flows, and SAP Business Data Cloud Open Sharing.
• Preserve SAP business semantics and deliver analytics, forecasting, supply chain, procurement, and GenAI applications over SAP data.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms and analytics, or software engineering.
• Strong coding skills in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of at least two cloud ecosystems among AWS, Azure, and GCP, with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience for production deployments, plus working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs.
• Experience designing and deploying performant, production end-to-end data architectures and applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.
• Experience delivering technical projects, managing scope and timelines, achieving measurable outcomes, and translating complex concepts into actionable solutions.
• Experience with enterprise clients, competing priorities, broad stakeholder groups, documentation, and whiteboarding.
• Hands-on SAP BW experience across BW 7.x, BW on HANA, and BW/4HANA, including ADSOs, CompositeProviders, InfoObjects, BEx/Analysis for Office, and process chains.
• Strong knowledge of SAP extraction technologies including ODP, SLT, CDS views, OData, and SAP HANA SQL/calculation views.
• Comprehensive knowledge of S/4HANA and ECC data models.
• Databricks Certification or willingness to obtain it within the specified period after joining.
• Willingness to travel to customers up to 20% of the time.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore technologies supporting Databricks-based customer solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP Datasphere and/or SAP Business Data Cloud.
• Understanding of SAP functional domains including FI/CO, SD, MM, and SCM and their role in analytics.
• Familiarity with SAP NetWeaver, the ABAP stack, and Basis concepts.
• Experience leading BW-to-cloud migrations or SAP-to-Lakehouse integrations, including fit-gap and migration assessments.
• Experience working with SAP Basis, BW/BI, and functional teams and navigating the evolution or retirement of long-standing BW estates.
• Ability to explain Lakehouse concepts to SAP-centric stakeholders using familiar BW terminology.
