Senior Business Consultant (Asset Finance)

What you will do

• Lead and participate in client workshops for Japanese auto-leasing clients to understand business processes, operating models, challenges and requirements.
• Document requirements through user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria and solution decisions.
• Analyse functional gaps and recommend solutions using standard product capabilities, configuration or agreed product changes.
• Configure the Asset Finance solution to support agreed business processes and functional requirements.
• Support accounting, finance, operations, reporting and integration discussions across end-to-end business processes.
• Maintain requirements traceability, review test coverage, clarify system behaviour and assist with defect triage while bridging Japanese-speaking clients and English-speaking regional or global teams.

Requirements

• Effective bilingual communication skills in Japanese and English, with JLPT N2 or above or equivalent business-level Japanese proficiency, are required for client-facing work in Japan.
• Experience working with financial services software in a software vendor, consulting environment, bank, financial institution or capital markets organisation.
• Relevant experience in banking, payments, lending, asset finance, leasing, securities, trading, treasury, capital markets, risk, clearing, settlement or other financial technology.
• Experience understanding business processes and translating business needs into requirements, workflows, system changes or functional solutions.
• Strong client and stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to work between business users and technology teams.
• Working understanding of financial and accounting concepts, including how business events and system transactions affect accounting, balances and financial reporting.
• Relevant backgrounds may include business analysis, product specialism, subject matter expertise or experienced use of financial technology, as well as consulting, software vendor or financial institution experience.

Nice to have

• Experience as a Business Consultant, Functional Consultant, Business Analyst, Product Specialist, Implementation Consultant or subject matter expert supporting financial software.
• Hands-on experience with financial system implementation, configuration, testing, user acceptance testing, migration, upgrades, production support or change initiatives.
• Experience working with Japanese financial institutions and regional or global technology and delivery teams.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles and enterprise software implementation methods.
• Experience in asset finance, auto finance, equipment finance, leasing or lending.
• Experience using Jira or similar tools to manage requirements, user stories, defects, testing activities and delivery progress.
