AI Researcher (PhD), 2027 Graduate Canada (AI)

Location: Canada, remote; preferred to be co-located in British Columbia. Must obtain and maintain work authorization in Canada. Employer sponsorship for work authorization is not available at the time of hire.

Base pay: CA$136,800–CA$178,600 annually, plus potential benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What you will do

• Develop advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies for hirify.global’s product portfolio.
• Work on large language models, generative AI, search, conversational agents, and AI optimization.
• Design system and model architectures and conduct rigorous experimentation and model evaluations.
• Apply AI/ML to product problems and contribute to hirify.global Intelligence features.
• Research, publish, build, and scale machine learning models using large amounts of data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or a relevant technical field.
• Current full-time enrollment in a doctorate program in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Data Science, Mathematics, or a relevant field, with graduation by August 2027.
• Strong foundation in AI/ML, LLMs, optimization, and related techniques.
• Experience with research, publishing, and building and scaling machine learning models using large amounts of data.
• Agile development mindset and appreciation for constant iteration and improvement.
• Ability to obtain work authorization in Canada at the time of hire and maintain ongoing authorization during employment.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Python and ability to write clean, efficient, well-documented code.
• Experience managing data with NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib, using models from Hugging Face, and applying machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Exposure to natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and AI optimization.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art machine learning and AI research through coursework, publications, or projects.
• Publications in top-tier AI conferences or journals.
• Ability to solve ambiguous and complex problems, navigate uncertainty, break challenges into manageable components, and develop innovative solutions.
