Distributed Systems Developer (Cloud Data Platform)

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable distributed systems for scheduling, queueing, dispatch, and completion of warehouse-backed work.
• Build admission control, isolation, and capacity-management systems for fair and predictable shared compute.
• Analyze and solve fault-tolerance, high-availability, performance, scale, consistency, durability, latency, and cost challenges.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers.
• Ensure operational readiness and meet customer commitments for service availability and performance.
• Contribute to Java systems that schedule and execute work across a large fleet of machines.

Requirements

• Substantial industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale production systems.
• Experience building large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant services and control planes, including compute placement, queueing, and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of operating-system concepts, including multithreading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
• Strong computer-science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Systems-programming skills, including multithreading and concurrency.
• Track record of identifying problems and implementing creative solutions.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• Fluency in Java.
• Advanced degree.
