Microsoft Purview Information Protection Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, Rahway, New Jersey, United States. No relocation; no travel required.

Salary: $79,200–$124,700 annual base salary, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive if applicable.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, tune, and maintain DLP policies, rules, and logic across network, endpoint, and cloud environments.
• Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview and other information protection technologies for high availability, accurate detection, and platform performance.
• Develop Python or PowerShell automation for incident response, data extraction, system integration, reporting, and reduction of manual effort.
• Investigate, analyze, and manage DLP and information protection incidents, including complex Tier 2/3 cases and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Global Security, Legal, Human Resources, and business units to address data loss prevention and insider risk events.
• Create and review security dashboards, metrics, log analyses, data visualizations, and pattern analyses to provide actionable data risk insights.

Requirements

• Formal training through college coursework or industry-recognized training and certifications in Computer Science, Information Security, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, together with experience using Microsoft Purview.
• At least three years of experience in cybersecurity roles.
• Professional information security experience covering both active incident response and technical platform implementation.
• Strong practical knowledge of Data Loss Prevention concepts, methodologies, and enterprise-grade tools.
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex Tier 2/3 security incidents, including in-depth root cause analysis.
• Hands-on Python or PowerShell scripting or programming experience applied to automation, data extraction, or system integration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.
• Foundational understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols, operating system architectures, and cloud security principles.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, manage shifting priorities, and balance operational emergencies with project-based engineering tasks.
• Required skills include adaptability, cyber threat hunting and intelligence, detail orientation, digital forensics, insider threat mitigation, log analysis, malware analysis, SIEM, security monitoring and operations, SLA management, team collaboration, vulnerability assessment and management, and written communication.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Information Security Administrator, CISSP, CISM, CIP, or Insider Risk certifications.
• Willingness to pursue and maintain information protection certifications and current knowledge of global data protection, privacy regulations, and emerging security threats.
• Direct experience with Microsoft 365 Purview, Zscaler, CrowdStrike, or comparable DLP and security solutions for network, endpoint, and cloud environments.
• Experience creating, testing, tuning, and deploying detection policies in security platforms.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with cross-functional business and technology stakeholders.
