CAD Technician III (Federal)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, USA; onsite.

Salary: $81,206–$108,273 annual base salary for Virginia.

What you will do

• Create, revise, and maintain Inside Plant drawings, including floor plans and rack elevations.
• Create and maintain Outside Plant drawings, including fiber route and detail drawings, using AutoCAD and engineering field notes.
• Develop project documentation in Microsoft Excel, including cable running lists, tables of contents, revision logs, and tracking materials.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and project stakeholders on drawing deliverables, schedules, and estimated labor requirements.
• Communicate project status, issues, and documentation needs while following established procedures and supporting organizational objectives.

Requirements

• At least four years of recent drafting experience using AutoCAD 2020 or later.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for documentation and tracking.
• Ability to learn, interpret, and accurately apply technical information, standards, and procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and project teams.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance and ability to maintain eligibility for access to classified information, including successful completion of required government security reinvestigation.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting mapping functions using ArcView or comparable geographic information system tools.
• Ability to develop Lisp or VBA routines to improve drawing efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance documentation accuracy.
