Senior Engineer (Transmission Planning)

Location: Remote, based in the US; occasional travel of 10% or less may be required.

What you will do

• Perform high-level bulk power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
• Lead and mentor electrical engineers conducting steady-state, short-circuit, dynamic, and transient stability analyses.
• Conduct advanced grid studies, including Sub-synchronous Resonance studies, and develop mitigation plans for identified constraints and system issues.
• Review and develop transmission planning methodologies and processes, while leading process improvement efforts.
• Complete projects on schedule while meeting quality and budget objectives.
• Interact with clients, support business development, and address project needs and concerns.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required; an emphasis in power systems is preferred.
• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer performing power system impact studies, including Dynamic Stability, Load Flow, Steady State, and Short Circuit studies.
• Experience with power systems software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
• Proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
• Strong written, verbal, technical, and report-writing skills, including the ability to explain technical matters.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to change, and produce high-quality reports and products.

Nice to have

• Experience automating or programming in Python.
• Experience using AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity, and innovation.
