Infrastructure Engineer, Mechanical Tooling

Location: Austin, Texas, United States, or South San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $123,000–$216,000 USD per year, plus equity compensation in the form of RSUs for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Build infrastructure foundations for mechanical engineers designing surgical robots, neural implants, chargers, and manufacturing equipment.
• Own SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS PDM performance, reliability, upgrades, and new-hire setup.
• Administer PDM users, permissions, workflows, Toolbox, and vault performance.
• Develop CAD CI for automated model and drawing validation and release.
• Integrate PDM with design-control and manufacturing systems to automate BOMs, DMRs, and build routes.
• Build secure on-prem infrastructure for 3D printers and machine-shop tooling, including internal quoting, and drive CAD and tooling standards.

Requirements

• Strong user focus and the ability to turn engineering pain points into shipped tooling quickly.
• Experience administering SOLIDWORKS PDM or a similar PDM/PLM system, including experience with CAD automation using the SOLIDWORKS API, macros, and add-ins.
• Proficiency in Python, C#, Rust, or Go.
• Experience tuning performance on workstations, file servers, and SQL databases.
• Systems administration experience on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Working knowledge of networking, common protocols, and securing on-prem equipment.
• Familiarity with mechanical design workflows, design controls, and BOMs.
• Ability to architect, build, and ship 0-to-1 infrastructure quickly and efficiently.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, an equivalent field, or equivalent experience.
